Once again we had a significant number of young people from the District attend 3Generate, with groups from Leeds North & East, Huddersfield, Calderdale, Leeds South & West, and Aire & Calder, as well as various volunteers who headed to Birmingham for a weekend of fun at the NEC.

Over 1800 people took part in the event altogether, engaging with spaces like the Inflatable Chapel; the Town Hall, where young people were able to sink their teeth into some of life’s tough questions and look at how together, we can use our voices to make the world a better place; and Eden and The Great Outdoors venues, which provided space to encounter the natural world and explore how our faith brings us closer to nature. There were plenty of spaces to kick back and relax, including “The Park,”; the Rec and the Tech Hub; the Theatre, the Arena and the Art Station for the more creative types; the Health and Wellbeing venue, providing space and time to check in with oneself; and the Hope and Anchor café space (not forgetting The Well for the leaders!). In case the weekend was all a bit much, there was also a Calm Venue, which provided a calm sensory space for anyone just needing a bit of calm. They also ran a 4-7s venue which was only open on the Saturday, although we didn’t have any takers for that one this year.

Our young people had a fabulous time meeting up with other young people from around the Connexion, learning more about their faith and different ways of connecting with God; taking time away from their usual routines, and sleeping in tents in the NEC – the camping village takes over the whole of an exhibition hall and is full of tents for all the participants and their leaders.

Thank you to all of the leaders and volunteers from the District who went along and made the weekend so memorable for the young people participating, and thank you to the District Grants Committee for approving the funding to cover the cost of the coaches for everyone who went.

If anyone in the District has any questions about 3Generate 2024, or would like to know more about 3Generate 2025, please contact Laura Tunnacliffe, District Youth Work Coordinator. The District is committed to providing the transport to get our young people to and from 3Generate, so if you are part of a group looking to go in 2025, please let Laura know so you can be added to our coach list.
