Supernumaries Annual Covenant Service and Lunch

On the 22nd of February, Bradford North Circuit hosted the annual Yorkshire West District Supernumeraries Covenant Service and Lunch at St. Andrews.

Along with our Chair of the District, Revd Kerry Tankard, we catered for just over 50 Retired Ministers and their partners who arrived around 10.30am for Tea/Coffee and biscuits. They then shared in a Covenant Service in the church, and enjoyed a 2-course lunch in the Church Hall – Jacket Potato and Bolognese with cold meats, quiche and salad, followed by Trifle, scones and cupcakes and tea and coffee.

It was lovely to see those who had served us in the past enjoying food and fellowship. Our Circuit ministers Phil, Lisa and Nick were also there representing our Circuit and sharing with our guests.

We would like to say a big thank you to those who helped us on the day from St. Andrew’s – Barbara who welcomed everybody with refreshments, Debra who played for the service, Martin and Chrissie for sound and organising communion, and for their help with the meal, along with Gill. Thanks also to Lindsey for ensuring the building was warm and welcoming. We also had a lot of support from Stuart and Heather; Janet from Bolton; and David, Di, Clair and Lily from Wilsden.

After our guests had left, those of us who had been involved in the preparation and serving of the meal were able to sit down and enjoy lunch together and felt really blessed that when Lisa and Lesley were chatting in the kitchen, they carried on washing up and clearing away our plates so we could enjoy the deserts, drinks and fellowship.

There were so many lovely comments about how much the Supernumaries had enjoyed the occasion.

Thank you to everybody involved.

Clive and Amanda Grimshaw
