Bringing together an innovative range of opportunities to support people whose faith, beliefs and spirituality have been impacted by experiences of trauma and/or abuse.
What is counselling?
Counselling offers a confidential, supportive and non-judgmental space where you can talk with a trained professional about a wide range of issues. Your counsellor will work with you to help you explore your thoughts, emotions and feelings, facilitating opportunities for you to understand yourself, your relationships and the world around you more fully. Counselling can also support you in making the changes you wish to make in your life.
Who we are
We’re a small team of practitioners working together to provide counselling and therapeutic support for people who have experienced trauma and abuse linked to faith, beliefs and spirituality. Our counsellors are committed to upholding the unique value of each individual, and are registered, accredited members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (or working towards accreditation). We abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018), have regular professional supervision and are committed to continuing professional development.
Our aims
We aim to provide an affordable, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, hope-filled counselling service for individuals, aged 18+:
- who have experienced trauma and/or abuse linked to their faith, beliefs and spirituality.
- whose faith, beliefs and spirituality are impacted now by experiences of trauma and/or abuse.
If you’re unsure whether the referral criteria may apply to you, please get in touch.
How we work
We recognise each person’s experiences are unique and that the effects of trauma and/or abuse can be far-reaching and extensive. With this in mind, we work collaboratively with our clients and at their own pace.
We offer counselling both in person at Cross Gates, Leeds and online via Zoom. Our counselling sessions take place during the day on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We are looking to expand this as the service develops.
We offer additional options to facilitate wellbeing, reflection and connection, including creative activities and retreats. If you are interested, please ask your counsellor for further information.
How much will counselling cost?
We aim to make our counselling service available to as many people as possible and operate a sliding-scale contribution scheme based on income and what is affordable for you. We will discuss and agree an affordable donation with you.
Please have a look at our website pages for more information about Touchstone and what we offer.
